The last that lasts
In shoe making the shape that replicates the foot is called a last. In production the lasts are made up of plastic that has been recycled.
The footwear industry and brands has a long standing desire to have numerous last shapes and changes them consistently. This leads to heavy industrialisation of melting down, re-forming and sculpting the new shapes, of which may only be on the market for season. Then the process starts all over again.
At Sutere Footwear we carefully select the last that are already available, and therefore saving them from being re-industrialised. As we continue to grow all of our premium sneakers will be on the same last. Any additional footwear styles we will again carefully select the correct last that is available, and stick to our belief that the last must last. Therefore lowering plastic use, industrialisation and helping to lower carbon emissions.
